Hello,
I have to mention this book which is about life on the lower deck of the Royal Navy after the second world war up to about 1965 and it is an indictment of the wardroom and Admiralty's indifference to the conditions on the lower deck. The author David Phillipson experienced this and has collated the memories and experiences of others to make an outstanding read.
First published in 1999 I was loaned a copy and after reading it I went out and bought my own copy. I have read it several times and it is a good reference book to dip into at any time to refresh your own memories.
Buy it or borrow it and read it and you will thoroughly enjoy it if like me you served in that era

What was it the small ships crews used to chant
Roll on the Rodney, the Nelson, Reknown - this no funnel ba......d is getting me down!
Expression used when for some reason or other we used to think that divisions, evening quarters etc were for big ships only - wrong!
Being as I am currently recuvering from a major op - I shall try and get a copy to read - Just finishing "Very Special Intelligence" so I need another one soon
