Hi, im looking for anyone who remembers my grandad

Derek Stanley Laverick - royal marine - po/x108909

He served on HMS Howe 23 dec 1942 to 5 dec 1943
also 15 april 1944 to 24 feb 1946

he also served on the portsmouth division, chatham, cleopatra, commando school RM and the plymouth - all from 1941 1946 and 1948 to 1953

He travelled all over the world and worked his way up to corporal, and was also a sniper.

Unfortunately my grandad died many years ago

Im Derek`s grandaughter and have been really interested in my grandads past, we have lots of photographs and some paper work/proof of medals etc... and im trying to put all the peices together.

It would be fantastic if there is anyone out there who served/remembers him or families that loved ones served on the same ships etc...

I feel really proud to know what the men on the ships did to fight for our country, and i feel it shouldnt be forgotten.

email is - angelalloyduk@yahoo.com

Thankyou for reading this - (Derek Lavericks grandaughter and family)

My father served on HMS Howe, I'm not sure when he joined her but I know he was on the Howe during 44 & 45. He was on the Boffers and an MP. His name was Arthur Leslie Horn and his nickname was Whip, although I don't know if he was known by that in the Navy. A few weeks ago someone else who served on the Howe, Harry (Henry) Peyto, died and left a book to my father, who died a couple of days ago. This book is actually HMS Howe "magazine" for 1944-45, with hard covers and 74 pages with a number of photographs. There aren't many names within the book and I'm afraid I cant find either your grandad, my dad or Harry mentioned anywhere. There is a mention of a detachment of "close on 300 Marines" being the largest ever drafted to a single ship.

I've scanned the Track Chart from across two pages which I've had to split into two as my scanner only goes up to A4.
