Not to hot on subs, I would recommend looking up Fleetscale or Bournemouth model shop to start, you'll find them using google. If they don't show them online then you can give them a call and they should point you in the right direction.
Hope that helps.

Hi Del,
Not sure where you are[profile not filled in yet] but there is a model exhibition at Leamington Spa on the 6th Nov which will have all sorts there for sale and exhibitions of what they look like by model clubs participating .

What about a Gato class made by Revell they are a good kit and not to difficult to build either ....and will be fairly easy to convert to R/c should you wish to

Hi Del, I too am a scratch builder and sometimes kits or revell conversions.

Traplet Publications have in September launched a Submarine Special associated with Marine Modelling International together with a DVD on RC Submarines.

Cost of DVD - £12.95 + p&p
Cost of Magazine [Submarine Special] £2.50 + p&p

order on line at www.traplet.com or tel 01684 588599

Haven't read/viewed it myself so hope it doesn't prove a red herring.

Good luck.

Hello,

If you speak of kit, there is an English submarine 1/72 scale here :

Airfix do a model of the current Trafalgar class submarines and a model of HMS Undine from WWII is available through the Pocketbond catalogue. Hope this is useful. I dont know of any WWI submarine kits available anywhere.

Hi there, yes I have got one and have also built the recent T boat from Airfix. Hand scribed the tiles on to her and after painting was looking good until I glossed the finish for the decals and kind of lost the effect so back to the drawing board and start again:mad:

Your help seems to have fallen on deaf ears gents. As is sometimes the case, you spend hours researching on somebody's behalf and don't even get the courtesy of a thank you.

Del1408 was last active on this site 09/08/2010 according to his profile.

But I will personally thank you for spending time and effort on somebody's behalf .................................................. ..........

(I have had this happen to me too many times).:(

I lost interest in model building after joining the Army, before that I had dozens. However, I found a lovely U 107 model in eBay so bought it for pennies. After months of looking at the box I opened it and began to build it. There was the powered electric engine version and the stand on the shelf version, I elected for the latter. But my eyes are not as good as back then, it was really hard to fit the fiddly bits, so I do not think I will bother anymore - ah well, such is age.

I envy you who can see the minute detail, as I used to be able to do. I could focus to an inch from the eye!!

This is the pre painted pic but still not finished.

A good-looking model to date, red -- and I wouldn't give up on the ships. I had to stop playing around with the 1/700 scale because it's a wee bit small, but I do have two magnifying glasses, one on a stand, and it does help with the fiddly bits. I stick to 1/350 or larger, and can still build 'em despite bifocals.

Where was the money and time when I was a lad of 30? Must have been the two kids and wife's fault!! :)
