How old is New Zealand's Navy?

1st October 1941 when King George VI granted the title of Royal New Zealand Navy to the New Zealand Naval Forces I hear you all cry!

I dont know the answer but I dont think it was then.

Does anyone know?

Yes, 1st October 1941 is definately the answer that the RNZN became into being.
