HMS Sirius 1890-1918

What was Sirius? I have spent meny hours searching for an HMS Sirius which could have been in service during 1912/1913.

According to my grandfather's naval record he joined 'Sirius' from HMS Endymion on 31st Jan 1912 and served until 6th December 1913 when he transfered to HMS Africa.

HMS Sirius was a 2nd class cruiser of the Apollo class, built 1890 and sunk as a blockship at Ostend in 1918, This photograph of her was taken during the first world war.
