The frigate is H.M.N.Z.S Otago and the cruiser I think is H.M.N.Z.S Royalist.
This picture was given to me many years ago by a NZ Army Photographic Unit.
I have actually photographed the old photograph to try and reproduce here so if the standard of the picture is not up to scratch I apologise.

I think it's a really fine photograph for us to have Colin - no need to apologise for it at all. The close-to-shore perspective is great.

was operation shopwindow in 1962 i was on otago the type 12 astern of royalist and astern of us was pukaki a loch class frigate

Definitely Royalist as she has lattice masts whereas Black Prince and Bellona only had tripod masts. Also you can see the Radar type 275 for the control of the main armament via the Flyplane Prredictor System mark 5.:)

That picture reminds me of an exercise about 1974.

The fleet exited Wellington in line ahead just as in the picture.

The RAN (enemy ) submarine was waiting just off the rocks.

It was a duck shoot, he got all the ships without being detected !
