My grandfather William Henry Watts J 5136 served on Sirius from 31st Jan 1912 to 6th December 1913.
Does anyone have any info on ship or crew between those dates.

Hi Terry, I read your thread and was amazed, my grandfather was on the same ship as your grandfather with exactly the same dates of service. My grandfather was called Walter Lee and was a 2nd class stoker. Is there any further information you have managed to trace on this subject. I would love to hear. Thanks
At the beginning of 1912 SIRIUS, under the command of Captain Crawford Machlachlan (later Admiral), was on Special Service in the Atlantic. On the 16th February she was in the Azores - on the 23rd she was at Bermuda. She was then attached to the Training Squadron, winding up at Newfoundland by June, 1912. By the beginning of 1913 she seems to have been cruising the Caribbean, calling at St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Granada, Trinidad, Colon Island, Jamaica, St. Pierre. On 2 July, 1913 it was announced that the 4th Cruiser Squadron would take over the West Indies Station, and that Sirius would return home and be paid off and put in the materiel reserve. She seems to have cruised to Newfoundland before returning home towards the end of the year. Captain G.T. Vivian took command on 24 December, presumably to recommission SIRIUS in the new year.

We are forever getting requests for information as regards long lost relatives and usually if it is at all possible a response is usually made.
Sometimes people go to a lot of trouble to find answers to the various requests and the more information we receive the more chance there is to find answers.
Any documents or photographs are most welcome as they give the researchers a lot more to go on. These can be sent as scans so you don't have to part with any treasured items.
Every little helps.
Regards,
Bob.
