At the height of the cold war did the sosus network extend over the equatorial area of the Atlantic?

I am almost positive that it did.

Have you read Norman Polmars book "Cold War Submarines?" as that includes really good information about the development of deep ocean arrays.

Here is the "known" Sosus sites that are in the public domain.

Most of what is known is still somewhat classified in nature. But what is known or in the public domain is that some of the sensors are in the stand-by mode for future use.

Well I never knew that they were that wide spread...how do they manage to monitor them assuming they are at depth :confused:

I was wondering if there were any in the Brazil /West Africa gap.The sosus had a number of land based monitoring stations
