What a carrier load of so transparent blatant unadulterated politically motivated nonsense! The things Her Majesty has to subscribe to on behalf of shallow and abhorrent politicians....
No doubt the relatives of Mary Jo Kopechne will be well impressed at H.M.'s Government take on honour?
I must say that I find very little at all Honourable about being a politician, they should be used to decorate trees rather than be decorated themselves.

When you consider that his Father ( I think I'm the right generation) was Jo Kennedy and former US Ambassador to either Eire or UK during WW2, he was recorded as saying to his Govt., words to the effect " don't help Britain, she's had it"
Jo Jennedy was certainly no friend of Britain, so why the hell his son has to have a knighthood from this country God and George Brown know why!!:(

Another politically granted award just as bad as those who buy them. I really can't post the words on the site for my disgust in this appointment. He is a drunken debaucher that killed a young girl for his own sexual gratification and then plea bargained it away, He later supported terrorism to the detriment of our security forces. We owe him nothing, and nothing he should have got.:mad::mad:

How truly dreadful. What an insult.
Kennedy's father was far more than anti-Britain when US Ambassador to Britain. There is evidence that he actually supported the Nazi cause against Britain.
The Kennedy's are a blight.

Senator Kennedy is held in extreme low esteem by many here as well. a popular bumper sticker says "Ted Kennety's car has killed more people than my Gun, Ban cars!"
... of all the Kennedy's to get a knighthood .. sad isn't it ..
Could not believe my ears, made me feel quite nauseous....whatever next ?

Didn't you know, we have a [I]special[I] relationship with America? "Where were you when JFK was assinated?" I have an alibi!!!
There was a time when these Knighthoods meant something.
There are certainly more deserving people in the world than the Kenedy Clan. I bet this one wasn't H.M.'s choice.
Wombat,
(James).
HM has a good memory and sense of decorum and about what is right and fair so I agree she was probably fuming a bit having to rubber stamp this political stroking exercise.

Come on guys... he bought it! Maybe he didn't pay with dollars but somebody's palm got greased. It doesn't even matter whether your a Parlimentarian or a Royalist anymore. The former sets it up and the latter knocks it down. The more things change, the more they stay the same. You don't see the guy who's been coaching the village kiddies football team for years getting honoured... No. The trouble is there is so much apathy in this country that few are willing to do or say anything contencious. He'll get his Knighthood and, given what its worth, he's welcome to it. Bring on the dragons and give him a lance!!!
Actually you probably do get the kiddies football coach honoured with a BEM or some such it is just you don't tend to hear about them but it is the political (dishonest self serving type) that get most notice.
PS as a royalist I think that HM should be able to veto awards nominated by the politicians. See how many of these rats get something then.

Of course it's a disgrace! Self-serving politicians and sycophantic boot-lickers, one and all. Beyond the self-inflicted wounds suffered by 'the firm' over the last few years which have seriously eroded belief and faith in the monarchy, the politics of cash for peerages etc ad nausium are rapidly devaluing ANY award to the level of a Blue Peter Badge!

I have also just signed.;)
I am not sure if the procedure is still the same, but when receiving a knighthood
you had to kneel before the Queen and she placed a sword on your shoulder ?
( what an opportunity? ):D
