Hello,

My name is Constantin Kiesling and I am a fan of a small 4WD vehicle called Haflinger. It was produced by the Austrian company Steyr Puch (today MagnaSteyr) from 1959 - 1974.

Some of these vehicles were used by the Royal Navy as tug vehicles on aircraft carriers. These Haflingers were fitted with a special tow bar and some other extras which make this version very rare today.

Myself, I own a Royal Navy Haflinger example which can be seen at:
http://main.haflinger-4wd.com/unsere-haflinger/1974-navy.php

I heard that Haflingers were used on HMS Bulwark R08 and HMS Albion. The first batch of Navy Haflingers must have been delivered to UK in 67. Some more in the early 70s.

Now my questions: Does anybody of you know more about Haflingers in service with the Royal Navy? Is there anybody who has photos where one can see these vehicles in action?

I'd be glad to hear from you!

kind regards,
Constantin

I was on Bulwark R08 during 66 and 67. I remember the little Haflingers very well. I'm sure to have some pictures somewhere. I will find and post them by and by.

Hi,
I am posting a request on all members to see if you can help me with ANY information you may have on the HMS Eagle and HMS Southhamton.
My friends father served on both. I beleive he was on the Eagle in 1942 before he was transfered to the Southhampton. His Name was Thomas William Doddington. I would be very interested if anyone has a crew list with his name on it or any further information they wouldnt mind sharing.
Thank you Chris Hill
