My mother was born in India,1944. She travelled from India to England on the "Alcantara" with her father, Douglas Arthur Bailey (R.E.M.E.) Does anyone have stories about "Blondie Bailey?"

I am attempting to identify if George F Angel (Private - RMLI - PO/7509) who was killed when the ship was sunk in February 1916 is my grandfathers uncle who disappeared from census returns after 1881.
I need to locate a service record or any basic details.

Any help would be appreciated.

Generally, the older personnel records 1873 to 1923, are held by the National Archives at Kew, and you will find further information about the Royal Marines at this link:

Needless to say, you will have to pay for the information.
Good luck with your search.
