RFA's at Gibraltar [Archive] - World Naval Ships Forums

Hi there,

Would anyone have any knowledge of any RFA's being involved in any refueling of RN ships operating from or close to Gibraltar during the Spanish Civil War please?

For other areas in Spain I am aware of the Hospital Ship Maine conveying injured persons and refugees from ports on the east coast of Spain to Marseilles. The tanker RFA Cherryleaf operating close to and being at Barcelona. The tanker RFA Prestol being at La Coruna and a tanker - details unknown - which was the cruiser Shropshire's oiler.

RFA VISCOL was the Port Oiler at Gib 1918 onwards so perhaps she was involved.
