Trying to track down anyone who served on the HMS Caradoc in the far east 44-45. My father served as a 'Wireman', his name is LEONARD WALTER HARRIS, probably known as Len or Lenny. He would have been about 20 years old, slight build and ALWAYS smoked a pipe. i have a small selection of images of life on board and some pictures taken of the Japenese surrender in Singapore ?? Colombo ?? Mountbatten and Slim.

I am looking for any information on my grandfather William Mckinley. He could be William McKinlay. He was aboard the HMS Caradoc as a stoker in 1934 when he got married. I do not know what happened to him after that so would appreciate any information at all. Thanks

I was wondering if anyone has any ships photos, or crew photos of H.M.S. Caradoc from 1917-1921. Thanks. Kevin.

I have a few photos of the ship, but only a couple of her in her earlier years and these two probably date from the 1930's. She was in service from 1917 until she was broken up in 1946.

Thanks jbryce, my grandfather served in H.M.S. Caradoc from 1917-1921 as a cook and a gunner. Here is a photo of him in about 1911 when he was about 19. He is on the right wearing the sailors cap. Kevin.

Kevin
A couple of small photos.
First one taken while she was fitting out so probably 1917.
I don't know the date of the other one but it could be early in her career.
That's a great photo you posted. I expect one of the guys will 'clean it up' for you.

Thanks for your reply John Brown. I never forgot about the Egyptian crew list,I was Worried about breaking the copyright rules. It has national archives paperwork attached to it. My grandfather did serve on the Egyptian which was later sunk in 1943. Do you know what the rules are on on the copyright laws. Kevin.

Sorry Kevin,
I'm not sure what you mean about the 'Egyptian crew list'
However, there has been much discussion in the forum on the subject of copyright. Have a trawl through the forum posts and you might find some helpful info.

Sorry John, I think I'm getting you mixed up with someone else. I'll get the hang of this soon. Thanks for the photos, I never knew my grandfather, he died in 1961 and I was born in 1965. I'ts nice finding out about his life at sea. Thanks. Kevin.

My father served on the HMS Caradoc from 13 Oct 1945 until around Jan 1946, I understand that he was in Ceylon and from the photo posted I cannot see him I would like a copy of this photo if that is possible. My fathers name was Cyril Thomas Young and he was a joiner IV. I would appreciate any information.
For those wondering, the image is on the HMS Caradoc page on the non-forum part of the site. I've copie it here to help:
