My Grandad Oscar Frith served on the HMS Canada as a stoker during the first World War,but my Mum has a picture of him in uniform with the hat ribbon
HMS Victory on cant find any information on HMS Victory apart from the famous one could this have been the name of the naval base

Jayne, welcome to the forum and for posting your query. You are correct in your assumption regarding Hms Victory, it was indeed the name of the Naval Barracks in Portsmouth.
In case you don't have any here's a couple of photo's of Hms Canada, she was a battleship.

Welcome to the forum, what was your Grandfathers name? and do you know his number?
During the WW1 period there was at least 10 different HMS Victory's the main been the barracks.

Hello Jayne..........With your Grandad having the name Frith and possibly serving in the RN in Portsmouth am I right in assuming he was, or perhaps, in later life, involved in the building company of "Frith the Builders" in Portsmouth?
