Just curious.
Are there any open to the public?
As far as I've found, the last Flush-decker in service was the Maddox DD168 and she was scrapped 16/08/1952.
Of the earlier 4 stackers,
Whipple was sold into Merchant service and became a Banana Boat:confused: scrapped 1956
and Truxton the same, scrapped in the 50s.
So none left as far as I can find:(

Alan, I searched and could find none, either.

I have searched through all the museum ships currently listed.
The oldest destroyer is the Polish ORP Blyskawica at Gdynia.
Sadly there is no 4-stacker destroyers in existence. The last one was scrapped back in 1952.
Every single remaining four stacker was scrapped in the aftermath of the war. When the film "The Caine Mutiny" was made, the makers had to use a modern destroyer in place of a four stacker since none were left whatsoever in service.

Just to confirm the bad news!
Bob.
Actually, there are the remains of a couple of the four-stack Flush-Deckers still in existence.
The remains of Thompson (ex DD-305) and Corry (ex DD-334) still exist in the San Francisco Bay area. Go to the link below.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for the link to that interesting site.
I think probably they are too far gone for even the most ambitious of renovation projects!!
