I have been researching Captain J. N. Edwards who was Master of the MV Trevanion that was sunk by mines positioned in the ship by Crew members of the "Graf Spee" in 1939. Captain Edwards was awarded the Lloyds medal for Bravery with a Laurel Reef(Mentioned In Dispatches) for signalling his position back to UK under the guns of "Graf Spee". His Daughter lives on the Island of Portland not far from Me. I have been given a picture of the captain with His Medal also showing another item of regalia (Looking a bit like a stirrup) which I have failed to find out anything about it. Perhaps Someone Can help with it's identity. The only thing I can come up with is that it was given to Him by Captain Langsdorf but that is only a guess as Captain Edwards was a prisoner on board the "Graf Spee" until released in Monte Video. Got any thoughts Lads.
