After the armistice on 11 Nov 1918 how long before this tapestry of battle fields was vacated by the soldiers.
What period of time did it take to return these places of carnage to their original purposes, rebuild broken buildings and villages, roads, infrastructure etc before the displaced residents could return and attempt to re build their shattered communities and lives, hoping for a brighter tomorrow
So many dead soldiers hastily buried where they fell, if they were lucky. Many thousands more left where they lay. Unexploded ordnance and thousands of tons of other remains, the detritus of war.
A very big task.
So, how long did it all take and who undertook this massive endeavour.

The CWGC was and still is responsible for the interment of all human remains
including bits and pieces unearthed by farming.
Around Ypres, the Belgian Government retained the sevices of the Chinese
Labour Corps to clear away the battle field scrap iron; including the thousnds of shells etc which had not exploded-a very dangerous job requiring special rates for those engaged on such work
Today it is left to the populaces of each country to inform the proper authorities of unexploded ordnance; dicovered by whatever means,
