Hello
Just thought I'd introduce myself here, I found this excellent board while searching for warship photos. My interest is in warships and naval operations between 1850-1945, but especially the 1900-1919 period.
I've never served in the navy, but have been 'at sea' for the last 17 years as I work on a north sea gas platform!

Indeed welcome Dave. Tinduck? OMG! :)
Oil platform experience will have given you something to talk about here. I'd be interested for one. For example, is there any evidence of these rigs being protected by Navy/Air Force people?
Thanks very much for the welcome.
I work on the Centrica Storage Rough 47/3Bravo platform, located about 18miles off Easington on the Yorkshire coast. There is no military presence on the platform normally, and none on any north sea installation as far as I know, but my platform does get annual visits from the services (SAS and SBS) for their training purposes. Because we are located close to the coast they have a short journey out from RAF Leconfield. In the past HMS Argus and some RFAs have also operated near the platform in support of the training.
Regards
Dave

Welcome tinduck. I am particulary interested in the two world war periods.
