Hi Dave.
These pics bring back the memories. I served in the 50's and 60's and it is probably just faulty memories but somehow the ships seemed more interesting then.
Regards,
Colin.

I served on the "Birmingham" early to mid 50's as a radio operator.
Nobody seems to mention her in any archives.
I agree ships in that era were far more interesting
Hope to hear some response
All the best
David
Have got a picture of Birmingham somewhere its a bows on view
as she was attempting to sink us :):)
Was in the Med 1959 on Delight came alongside Birmingham for a mail transfer
she left Malta late that day and was carrying all the mail .
However she had a steering failure and turned into us --we managed to escape with superficial damage to the upper deck ' Birmingham lost two stokers while they checked for leaks --died after entering unventilated compartments in the double bottom .
I think Birmingham was scrapped not long after then

Hi Dave.
A few pics of my ships served on in the 50/60's. These pics HAVE been posted before and all are available on the net but perhaps in this instance no one will mind them being reproduced here? If a problem then please just delete them Mr Moderator.
1 Ocean
2 Newfoundland
3 Albion
4 Maidstone
5 Hartland Point
5 Zulu
The one of Maidstone is showing her as a Nuclear S/m depot ship --probably coming out of Portsmouth about 1962 and on her way to Faslane .
I paid her off in 1958 and went back on her in 1965--1968 when she paid off again before getting sent to N.Ireland as a prison ship.
