This model, (1/24th scale) made over a period of 8 years by Stephan Krapf of Flossenburg, Germany is on long term loan to Explosions Museum in Gosport. A highly detailed work of art,

What a remarkable achievement. So detailed. Very impressive.

I'm sure there will be several such models of Victory. I know of one.

Can I ask, is the Explosions Museum still open? I thought it was possibly under threat of closure. When I went there about a year ago I could see they were developing all around it and could easily swallow up that site as well.

Hi Odin,
Unfortunately, this wonderfull museum had to close on weekdays and now only opens at the weekend. Cannot remember the opening time but I believe it closes at 4pm with last admissions at 3pm. I think booked parties can gain admission on weekdays,

Bob

Thanks for that Bob, I was concerned after my last visit that it would be closing for good. Took some photos of some of the various guns there and will post them on the Forum when I've worked out how to extract them from my phone.

Truly a superb model, put together with a great love of the days of sail. It looks as if the background painting was made specifically for this model. Does anyone know what scene it represents? Looks like Victory is leaving harbor.
