Dear All

Further to the limited response on this subject I wonder if someone lives close to Aberdeen. According The National Archives more information is available of the aforementioned Mr Flett.

The Repository Aberdeen City Archives contains the following:

Flett, Peter Farquhar (1908-1992) Lt Commander

GB/NNAF/P147210 (Former ISAAR ref: GB/NNAF/P47785)

Scope c1930-79: corresp, notebooks, news cuttings etc (addnl)

Record Reference Accs 332-3, 340-1, 344, 346, 349, 351

Question: did anyone see this source of information?

Hello

I would like to resubmit my query wether no lives close to or in Aberdeen who could visit that City Archive and report back his/her findings about the legacy of Mr Flett....

Happy to receive any news on this topic

Dear All

Despite being on hold for some more than three years, I am somewhat disappointed concerning the potential enormous source of interesting information about the salvage works executed by the RN some 40 to 60 years ago.

Apparently no one seems to reply to this request to have a t least a peep.

Hoping that someone will pick up the initiative I remain with

I can appreciate your frustration Gerard, knowing that there could be valuable information available, but too remote to access personally. Have you considered sending them an email to ask if they could make the information available to you. The email address of the archives is
archives@aberdeencity.gov.uk (archives@aberdeencity.gov.uk)
and it may be worthwhile asking them the question.

Hello Jim

Thanks for trying to comfort and ease the frustration.
Prior to putting this story up for the "public" I have had already some correspondence with the Archive. Being not a Brit and moreover living in Vienna the costs related to the proposed scan of all then non classified material would have cost me a fortune. Besides I am looking for a particular piece of information and not for the "whole". Sorting without having seen the documents themselves is an illusion....
