That's "secret" as in "nobody knows about it"?

Still of the opinion that we cannot tell other people what they can and can't have. We've got 'em, so why can't they. Perhaps they don't want to be dominated. We could always start selling opium again!!! The solution is convincing everyone that we don't/shouldn't need them, but you try telling that caveman to put down that club and stop banging me on the head with it.

Well said Stewart. Of course they have a right to build this.
I found the topic interesting because it raises the issue of China's involvement in the waters of Asia. Several countries in this region possess or are trying to possess submarines.

The Chinese aren't only in the Pacific! On our recent voyage from Manaus to Harwich, via the West Indies and Azores...we saw many items 'built' by the Chinese....there are two new Cricket Grounds with Grandstands built by them in Trinidad for a start!
When one pulls alongside St.Vincent's wharf there is a large board on which is painted " Welcome to St. Vincent and the Grenadines"... donated by the Republic of China Taiwan! They and their Communist 'brothers' seem to be spreading themselves about a bit... to coin a phrase! I also seem to remember that somewhere in the Bible there is a warning about bewaring the yellow hoard!

Twenty years ago I started telling my children to learn Mandarin and go to China as it is the future. They didn't.
I've seen a lot of TV footage of that country recently and all of it from Western eyes. I have to say I'm impressed with what I see. The recent disaster there is a case in point. The response of the Chinese authorities has been remarkable to say the least.
And to think it's the recent past when anyone with a three figure IQ and above was being tormented and hounded.
The Taiwan matter is a sticking point. Just as the two conflicting Muslim groups keeps the other fully occupied, so I feel does this.

Stewart - your comment that we could start selling opium again is a bit out of date! Sadly it is being sold in its refined form [Heroin] in every town and city in the land...
