Remember my first visit to Londonderry in 1954 in the frigate WHITESAND BAY and seeing 2 Norweigan submarines tied up astern of us, these were ex German U-Boats from WW2, often wished that I had taken some photos of these two boats, did the Norweigans have any more of these ex German boats?

Hi Dave,
U926 and U995 became the Norwegian Kya and Kura remaining in service until the early 1960's, (U995 is now preserved at Kiel).
U1202 served from 1948 until 1962 as the Norwegian Kynn,
regards,
Bob

Hi Stan, Very interesting picture of German subs at Lisahally, I now live in a new apartment block on L/Derry's old Quay.

One of my early memories is of visiting a U-Boat in Leith Docks, it did a tour of the Uk,post ww2, must have been late 40's-early 50's.The thing that sticks in my mind is the water tight doors were circular.

I was just thinking about that last post I did, I must have been about 7or8 when the U-Boat was there, and years later, when I was in the RN, I was on leave (lived in Leith at that time) I went for a walk down the docks as some one said there was a Submarine visiting,it was H.M.S.ARTFUL, and I end ed up on board for a sample of under water rum.She was tied up in the same berth as the U-Boat had been
