My Grandad served as a signalman for the British Royal Navy on board the HNoMS Sleipner during WW2 (approx. late 1941 - Mid 1943). This ship was a Norwegian Destroyer which escaped the German Invasion of Norway where she sailed to Britain.
This is where he joined the ship.
He would love to hear from anyone that has any information on the crew of that time.

I have crew list of most Norwegian warships from period 1939-45, but I have only crew list from SLEIPNER in 1939-40 and late 1945. However, I do have access to service records for Norwegian navy for entire period. Please let me know if your father is looking for named individuals, I can at least give service records.
Maybe your father can recognize and name the British Naval Liaison Officer on SLEIPNER in photo below (number 2 from left). Second photo is from the radio room, the man in front is kvm. (equal to PO) Martinsen, the man in the back is an unknown British rating.

Thanks for the info.
Particular names my granfather is looking for are Royal Naval Seaman Taylor and Goddard, unfortunately no 1st name. These guys were on board with him.
I will show him the Officer photo but I don't think he will remember as it was a long time ago and the memory isn't what it used to be.
Regarding the other photo of the radio room, I have an original of this but was not sure it was on board Sleipner. It was a press photo for the UK newspapers at the time.

Sadly, I do not posses service records for British personnel. They are listed in crew lists, but I have not been able to find any crew list with the names in question.
I include some additional photos of British personnel on SLEIPNER, and also a complete crew photograph dated 1942. File Sleipner-5a show the British personnel from this photo.
You mentioned having the original photo. The Norwegian Navy had their own unit (organized as in RN) taking photographs of fighting Norwegians. Many of the photographs ended up in newspapers, mostly in the Norwegian newspaper printed in UK. The first series of photographs are not dated (or at least not dated in caption). Can you give a date for the photograph?
What a fascinatig thread. Thank God it has been revitalised!
Two officers seated, extreme left, #6 post photo #3, and on the right bar one; looking at the ground!
This is just innocence, or of much more importance, one would ask?
A Fascinating photo too!
