In 1993 the City of Liverpool hosted an event to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Allies winning the Battle of the Atlantic. (May 1943 is considered the point when the tide turned against the Germans and the allies started winning the battle)
Warships from 40 nations, including Germany, sailed to Liverpool and most were opened to the public. Here are some photos I took of the Russian 'Gremyaschy' and her crew. In the last picture, notice the Russian sailor in the bottom right corner. He is actually selling badges and bits of surplus uniform from the ship to some young boys. I bought an Officer Cadets hat from him for £10.
