Hi,
My farther Alan Thompson served on HMS Royalist (anti-aircraft, modified dido class cruiser) as a radio operater up to 1946, serving mainly in burma I believe. Has anyone got any information on either the ship/crew or its movements during its role in the far east?
Many Thanks,
ptomo.

Hi Gents, a newbie and an old one at that.
My Cousin Served on the Royalist from about the time of the Japanese surrender until January 1946.

Singapore Penang, Mombassa.

What was your fathers detail, I will check next time I see him, if they were Shipmates

regards
Jerry

Hello Jerry
Wondering if your cousin might know anything of my uncle Horatio Penrose who served on the Royalist. I'd appreciate any information. I've just registered, and have put a more detailed reply to J Hanson's post. Not exactly sure how all these posts link yet. Thanks for any news.
Regards,
Margaret (Penrose)

Old and damaged photo of HMS Royalist coming home 1946 at Gibralter - has about 200 crew on deck. Happy to send larger 1MB photo to anyone intereted - easier to identify faces at that size.
Still looking for any info / records of Horatio Penrose, a petty officer (possibly in communications) on HMS Royalist. Wrote his brother he could see Australia on horizon, so presume was in the Far East operations.
Thanks for any help.

PS. I forgot to say. I have a list of the places and engagements the ship was in from the War office if anyone would like a list, I wrote to the war office after my father died and I was doing his life story. the list is for the second world war. but does mention a few other engagements.

Hello Jean, forgive the long spell of silence, I lost my records.

I will ask my Cousin about that when I next speak to him. Meanwhile, I would love a copy of records you mention, as a gift for him, he is 85 now.

Jerry
