Here are a few crew photos we recently added from HMS Northampton in about the 1880s. I looked these up as we are about to add a couple more to the site from the same sort of period, so if this is of interest to you watch out for the update coming soon. Until then, here are some we put on the site a couple of months back.

I was interested to find these pictures of HMS Northamton on the site.
She was my Granddads first ship. He joined the RN as a lad, "B2C" on
26th August 1898 and remained with her, until transferred as " B1C" to the "Curacoa".
Somewhere there is a photo of her, but due to its poor quality, I had dismissed the idea of posting it. However, should it be of interest in building this thread I will try to find it!
She was a training ship was`nt she?
The photos indicate that they are all young lads!
Looking forward to your additions to this thread whenever they come to hand?

Welcome to the forum Maurice

Small bit that I found

HMS Northampton was a Nelson class armoured cruiser of the Royal Navy, built by Robert Napier & Sons, Govan, Scotland and launched in 1876. The Nelson class were "essentially second-class ironclads". She was launched in 1876 but not commissioned until 1881.

HMS Northampton was flagship of the North America and West Indies Station until she was placed in reserve in 1886. She was hulked as a boys' training ship in 1894 and sold for breaking up in 1905 to Ward, of Morecambe.
