I am in search of books written on the 1914-19 U-BOAT WARS AS WELL AS THE U-Boats in general in WWI. I am in need of suggestions for rare, used or new books that will help me have a strong library, as well as knowledge, of the U-Boats importance during the WWI. I am hoping someone will add their suggestions to my link. I was told to put the request in this section and someone with U-Boat knowledge will answer.

I've found the following to be very helpful in my research...
Eberhard Rossler, U-Boats, the evolution & technology of German Submarines, Cassell publishing
Jak Mallmann Showell, The U-Boat Century, German Submarine Warfare 1906-2006
David Miller, U-Boats, History, Develoment & Equipment 1914-1945
Hope this helps. Send me a PM if you have any other U-boat book questions. I have a few more titles that might help but they are in German & Russian.

Hello:
I sent a PM to you but don't know if you received it. I am trying to maneuver through the forum right now and I am a little clumsy, I hope you can help.

An enjoyable read of WWI German submarine "sea stories" and combat actions as opposed to the more technical histories is "Raiders of the Deep" by Lowell Thomas, originally published in 1928. I have the US Naval Institute 1994 reprint with a fine introduction by Gary Weir. An excellent read with much first-person material.
Regards,
A book that could be of interest to you..."Business in Great Waters"..by John Terraine. The U-Boat wars 1916--1945.
It contains much of interest for submariners..
Cheers,Stan

I strongly endorse the recommendation of "Business in Great Waters" by John Terraine. Excellent coverage of the U-Boat Wars 1916 -1945 in 840 pages. It is also published by the Wordsworth Military Library.
