Rather than just paste in the text I wrote elsewhere, just click on the link below and you'll get the full service, images and all!

It needed a lot of magnification Kevin. Also I hope everyone has the pdf reader!

A most interesting read indeed. This sort of work answers many unanswered questions as to the fate of ships and boats and I'm sure is very helpful.

Oh yes, I guess you do need a PDF reader, don't you. Oh well.

As for magnification just click on the magnification 'button' in PDF toolbar across top and get it to 100%, or 200% should you so see fit. (When i open it, it opens at 72%)

PS. If I am not mistaken (which I have been before) if you don't already have Adobe Acrobat (what is the program you need to open PDF files) then when you try to open the above link/document Adobe Acrobat will pop up (I think) 'asking' if you would like to down load a free/basic copy of same, and thats all you need to open PDF's. So, if you don't already have Adobe Acrobat, this might just be the incentive you need to download it from the web free of charge (again, 'I think'.) and then view the above article re Perch, and any other PDF that comes along in the future.

In case anybody reading this was unaware - the provided link leads to an excellent account of the finding of the wreck of the WW2 submarine USS Perch in 2006. It was written by the writer of this thread - Kevin Denlay who is a professional diver, well used to diving on this sort of wreck. Very impressed with this account.

A facinating read all around!! I envy Mr.Denlay in his line of work!! The IJN destroyer Amatsukaze, mentioned in the article, was (I believe) then under command of one Tameichi Hara who was to author the book 'Japanese Destroyer Captain' post-war.
It's been years since I read it,but from what I remember it gave a very interesting point of view on the naval war in the Pacific, from the other side of course.
