View Full Version : B.R.C.N. 1203 (2)
Another booklet I found in my father's papers. He joined the R.C.N. in 1920 and retired as a C1 in 1946. I also included a photo of HMCS Iroquois's radio room in 1941. Times have changed...:)
Hi there,
I too have a BRCN 1203(2), somewhere buried deep in the stuff in my basement. I was my Dad's. He served in the war and and demob in 46, joined back up in 52 for another 10 years. I also have a flashing light training aid, You hold it in one hand and queeze the top and bottome, it causes the shutters to open. It too is in the basement alond with my accumulated naval memories following 40 years in the RCN/CF
Cheers

Terry:
I also have both these items - plus a set of playing card sized "flash cards" which we used for signal flag recognition.
Like you, all this paraphernalia is stowed away somewhere in my basement. Suspect that once I have done my final "out routine," my sons and heirs will probably consign the lot to the nearest gash can!
Tim - it seems that is a common problem with a great many things that once held a place of importance in our lives. Most of my father's things and mine are of little or no interest to any of the remain family members. Sad to say the least.
Dave
I imagine that if I melted down all the brass bits I could cast my own 24 pounder and the plaques would provide enough material to construct my final resting box. Neither of my boys are intersted my naval sword nor any of the many soviet navy bits I collected while stationed in Moscow. Just bits of flotsam when I cross the bar.
