Now that I've got your attention, I'll explain!! For a little while now I have been researching my late father's RN career, purely for family use and definitely not commercial, and have come up against a problem or rather 3. Namely, how did Dad get from ship A in one country to ship B in another country. Needless to say I have googled to the left, googled to the right, and travelled to the valley of google without success. I am hoping that there is still some ancient mariner(s) out there who can solve the problems for me. The first instance occurred when Dad was drafted from IMPLACABLE on the 8th Dec 1945 to join ROWENA on the 3rd Jan 1946, the only problem being that the former was in Sydney and the latter in Hong Kong! I thought I had this one sussed as the Naval History Officer in Canberra informed me that the HMT AQUITANIA sailed from Sydney on the 9th Dec, but for Fremantle and then on to the UK. So I'm not sure if Dad went 'direct' Sydney - HK, or went via Fremantle having transferred to another ship.
The second occasion is leaving ROWENA on the 18th Apr 1946 in Bizerte, Tunisia, to travel to the UK. The third and last is leaving UNICORN on 13th December 1949 in Singapore to return to the UK.
The information I'm after in all three cases is the name of the ship and in the latter two cases the port of arrival in the UK and the date of arrival.
So any help would be gratefully appreciated.
