The Gowind offshore patrol vessel "L'Adroit"an inovative safety and security platform ,left DCN's Lorrent shipyard (where it was built) this week,on course to the French Naval base at Toulon.

It has been made available to the Navy for the next three years and will be tested on Naval missions over the coming months.

It's role will be multi-purpose including fishery surveillance, drug intervention, environmental protection and search and rescue.

The vessel will have two rotating 30-man crews every four months and will be operational/on call 220 days per year. There is additional accomodation for 30 passengers..
The 87 metres long L'Adroit will have a range of 8,000 nautical miles with a "sea-endurance" of 3 weeks+.Top speed is 21 knots..and the vessel is equipped with a helicopter pad..

DCNS is a World leader in Naval Defence, employes 12,500 people and has an annual revenue of $2.5 billion.

Now that Derek- I have to say- is a rather handy piece of kit-a multi purpose survellance vessel with a range of 8000 miles;presumably for use in the Mediterranean.Do you have it's cost perchance??

Thanks Brian

They look a little like a floating block of flats really must be a low hull and sharp superstructure reduce the radar signature
