Good column by critic Bob Hind in todays Portsmouth News on "Hostilities Only" Brian Lavery with photo RN men lugging just issued kit and underlining we had 933,000 men and 86,000 women in RN uniform during WWII .The book is
286 pages, but says bit short on photos....now I just have to get a copy...it's published by Conway at 12 pounds 99).

I have this book and enjoyed reading it. My GF was an HO Volunteer so that's where my interest in the book came from. It does have a very good index which I really like in a book. As a relative beginner to this RN research I picked up allsorts of little facts and interesting snippets. Like the one about uniforms that explains why my GF & others in the group photos I have look like civilians rather than WW2 RN Sailors.
