I am new to the site so please bear with me, I am looking for information on the Norwegian Navy ships and crew who would have been visiting Glasgow in March, April, May 1943. This is a starting point for a family secret recently discovered?? Are there any records and if so where would I find them? Any help appreciated.
Chris.

I doubt that it was a social visit and assume that she docked in one of the shipyards for an overhaul/repair. The ship could not have been HNoMS STORD, built as HMS Success. She was built on the Isle of Wight at J Samuel White and commissioned in August 1943. Some of the US built Town class were manned by Norwegian crews.

This could be something of a nut as the Royal Norwegian Navy - not "manned by Norwegian crews" - at times operated up to 70 vessels under the auspices of the Royal Navy.
The Royal Norwegian Navy should really have its own thread in this forum - just my opinion. Not to mention their civilian vessels sailing for the Allies.
