I am looking for information that can prove that Jean Dauphin was a crew member of the French Ship “Experiment” which I believe was stationed at the mouth of the York River during the siege of Yorktown. I have secondary information that indicates that Jean Dauphin was on this ship which went to the Antilles after Yorktown surrendered. He returned to U.S. in 1782 under Marquis de Vaudreuil.

Can you point me to sources that could prove this family lore information?
