Looks good Kc. I see that pic of Roms has good N7 on it's side. Surely that would help. I looked at the browsers but didnt turn up anything.

At first I thought it was one of the many French destroyers from about that time. Lots of similar ones there, but the ensign gave it away. Once I knew it was Polish, just a case of looking on the Polish Navy pages on the site for the ship, (and of course checking the silhouettes in Conways). Unfortunately no info on the pennants to hand, but seems the most likely option.

Hi Graeme - Its a Hunt class destroyer - from memory I think its the Badsworth. I was fiddling about here with a few different ship silhouettes and had just decided to use this one as a Sig pic, when I noticed this post about the Burza - hence why no identifying tag yet! My aim is to eventually select around half a dozen of my favorite ones and rotate every now and then.
In all honesty I got the inspiration for using silhouettes from your Perth graphic - so thank you, sir!

Best wishes
Terry/Exeter.

Gentleman problem solved the ship is the ORP BURZA of the polish navy,on the 16th November 1940 she collided with the British ASW HMS Arse:Dnal in heavy fog, unfortunately HMS Arsenal sank Burza went into repairs untill the 30th July 1941 when she again became seaworty and rejoined a convey enroute to Norway,

No Bob My father served with the Polish navy during the war as a BNLO for those of you British Naval Liasion Officer, its just that I have these old photos ,the problem was solved when my elder brother showed me more photos I never new exsisted and doing a little research found the Burza was in dry dock, wondering why checked it out and quite by chance came across what I have posted, the moral to this is always write on the back of a photo.By the way why would i post something just to come up with the answer at a later date you got that totally wrong. The conclusion I came to was on the basis that Burza suffered extensive bow damage so I could still be wrong but I doubt it,will let you know when I check out Hms Arsenal:mad:

By the way Father was awarded the Polish CROSS of VALOUR by the Polish Government in exile for his bravery for Poland during the war

You must be very proud of your father. I'm sure all of us are proud of relatives who have 'seen action' but it must bring an extra lump to your throat when one is given an award for individual bravery.

Regards...John

On the last photo BURZA is seen as a floating museum, in 1960s.
After her arrival to Poland in 1951 she was rebuilt as an AA destroyer. Rrecommissioned in 1955 she managed to visit Portsmouth in 1955 together with BLYSKAWICA (see photo 1). In 1960 she was withdrawn from service and became a museum in Gdynia (photo 2) until 1975.

The ship in background in the first photo is GROM. Thus the photos were taken in 1937. The third photo was taken from GROM - see the buoy with G on it.
