Good afternoon one & all. I am currently restoring a Paxman V12YHA that was fitted to a gen set on a Rothesay class frigate. Is there anyone in this forum that was involved in the running & maintenance of this type of engine as i could do with some advice, hints, tips & so on from people with practical experience on this equipment.
Look forwards to hearing from you all,
Kindest regards,
Merv!:D

I seem to recall that these were a marine wersion of those fitted to contermporary diesels on British Rail, Deltics? they might be able to assist. Good luck

Sadley they are a different beast, The engine i am restoring is a MK1 which is of all aluminium construction & therefore needs some careful attention during opperation.
My biggest problem at the moment is finding a wiring diagram for the engine, hens teeth seems to be the stock answer at the moment but i will conquer!!;)

Its truly amazing what an afternoon down the pub can achieve, chatting with a guy i have known for some time & found that he worked on Paxman YHA engines during his time in the RN. As you would expect he is a mine of useful & useless information so project Paxman restoration is back on track.

Hello,I have extesive experience in 12 ylc deisels and will share my knowledge with all comers. One thing I will say to start with is dont try to pull thr piston and big end out through the top, it wont come ,you have to pull it all out throug the crank case. If your interested let me know.,

You will note johnny07 that this thread has been inactive for two and a half years. The answers were provided in another thread however and many links given to help out, although it would take a while to search and recover the actual info provided.
