The true story behind the HMAS Voyager scandal.
When the aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne sliced the fleet destroyer HMAS Voyager in half during night manoeuvres off the coast of New South Wales on 10th February 1964 A royal commission founded Voyager's actions to be 'inexplicable' yet Melbourne's bridge officers were apportioned some of the blame.
LCDR Peter Cabban RAN who was XO on Voyager and in 1967 his account to the second Royal Commission resulted in the original report to be overturned and cleared Melbourne. It found that Voyager's captain Duncan Stevens had been unfit for command.
This is Peter Cabban's story and what happened to him as a whistle blower, hence the title Breaking Ranks.
I found it to be good read.
