I most thoroughly agree with John, those newspaper articles are a fascinating window on the past naval events that so affected world history. I can't imagine the amount of time it takes to wade through those old papers, but certainly appreciate the results. One of the forum's top benefits is access to these old articles, coupled with the photographs that usually follow from yon maestro of the archives -- one of many we are blessed with.

Thanks for those posts, Dave, and of course kudos to Terry for always finding just the right photographs!

Mention in the above articles regarding the details of the construction and armament of the IJN Asahi mentions the Wheeler-Stirling process in regards to projectiles. Contemporaneous revelations regarding these armor piercing bits of kinetic art may be found at:

I totally agree with Don on this and many other threads.We are priveleged to be given original and historical script from Dave; and cracking pictures carefully chosen by Terry-thank you both.:)
