HMS Nestor Laid Down : 26th July 1939 Launched : 9th July 1940 Completed : 3rd February 1941 Type : Destroyer Class : N Builder : Fairfield Country : UK Pennants : G02 Fate : Commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy on 3rd February 1941 as HMAS Nestor. Sunk 16th June 1942. |
Although manned by Australians and commissioned as an Australian warship, she remained the property of the Royal Navy. Damaged by aircraft on 15th June 1942 and sank the following day. |
