The Weapon Class comprised 20 ships, planned near the end of the war, only 13 of which were actually laid down and only 7 of them launched. Of the 7, only 4 were completed for service, Battleaxe, Broadsword, Crossbow and Scorpion. All were laid up until the mid 1950's when they received limited conversion to Aircraft Direction vessels.
