HMS DAUNTLESS

CHARLES ROBERTSON..  served on the Dauntless around the period 1920 - 1922, as a stoker.  He was on the Dauntless during the operation to recover the bodies from the airship disaster in the Humber in August 1921.  His family is aware of a photograph of the ship's company taken around this period, thought to have been when the ship was visiting the Hudson River.  The ship's company was assembled on the foredeck with the camera looking towards the stern from the bow.  sadly, this photograph has been lost.  The family would welcome contact from anyone with a copy of this photograph or any other information concerning the Dauntless around this period.  Contact phil.woodhead@lineone.net

HMS DRAGON

FRANK THACKERY AB... My Uncle Frank served on HMS Dragon when he was 25 years old. He was from Sheffield and was killed in action in September 1942. I am looking for anyone who remembers him or of the actions involving Dragon in September 1942. Contact John Hopkins at john@marecbokae.com

MAURICE COLLINS.. My uncle served on HMS Dragon between 1940-1942 as far as I am aware. I am looking for any crew photos or anyone who remembers him - he was very young at the time he joined the Navy at 15. Contact Sandy at Sandym@equals.co.za

WILLIAM TIDMARSH, served on HMS Dragon when he was 18 years old.  I am trying to find out where the ship saw action after its launch in 1917. Before joining the ship I know my Grandfather saw action at Jutland and it was there his real age was discovered. if anyone can help with information about HMS Dragon, Please contact Sue Wilson at sjwilson31@ukonline.co.uk

HMS DANAE

CHARLES ERNEST SPOONER. My father in law served on HMS Danae from 9th August 1944 to 30th September 1944. I am looking for information and photo's of HMS Danae and its crew. if anybody can help. please contact June and Charlie Spooner at june.spooner@sympatico.ca

HMS DESPATCH

HUGH TRAINER..  I served on this ship from May '44 until she was decommissioned in September '44.  We joined her in Portsmouth Dockyard in May '44 after she had been converted to an anti aircraft ship and was equipped with Bofors guns which were manned by soldiers, and oerlikon guns and a four inch astern which were manned by the navy and our task was to carry the N.O.I.C. Mulberry "B" to Arromanches where we stayed until the harbour was completed.  We then sailed each morning at daybreak to the Juno Light Vessel where we directed shipping to the various "Gooseberries" or to Arromanches.  We returned to Portsmouth in August '44 for leave and then to Devonport where we paid off.   Contact Here

HMS DURBAN

CPO TELEGRAPHIST J. G. ADAMSON.. HMS Durban 1921 - 24.  We are trying to locate the family of C.P.O. Adamson.  We want to return a piece of work executed either by, or for, him during the ship's Far East cruise, 1921 to 1924; they visited China and Japan - among other places.  he was last heard of in Plymouth, Devon. contact here

JOHN HOGAN: My great uncle served on HMS Durban. he was only 21 when he died during the early years of the war. I am looking for information on him, ship mates and the ship. If you can help please contact Dawn Unsworth at dawn_maria_unsworth@hotmail.com
