HMS MANXMAN
My father was on HMS Manxman between 1945 -
49 (Approx). I am trying to find out a bit about what it did and
where it went during those years. I have pictures of a Bear on board which was given to them and taken to
London Zoo. I would love to hear from other ex Sailors or there families.

Hi, I had the pleasure of serving on board HMS Manxman
during my term of "National Service" from 1955 to 1957.
We were stationed in Malta and did various cruises up and down the
Med, including being the first ship to enter the Suez Canal, ( due to
Manxman's very low draught) during the 1956 Suez crisis. Just before my
national service ended, she was mothballed in Malta while her crew were
stationed at HMS Ricasoli. I
am 67 years old now, and live in Jamestown NY. USA. with my family.
Can you please tell me where I can get a photo of HMS Manxman. I
will be visiting the UK in April 2004 and would like to know if there are
any "Navy stores" in the London area. Thank you in
anticipation of your response. Kind regards. Anthony Hills.

JOHN HERBERT ROBINSON aka JACK was a signalman on the Welshman – he survived
the war but I am not sure if he was on the Welshman when it was sunk.
I would like to check on the list of survivors from February 1943 and to
get in touch with the Welshman Association. If anyone can help me please
contact me at sg@gladding.demon.co.uk.
HMS APOLLO
THOMAS HENRY PARSONS.. My father Thomas
(Tommy) Parsons served aboard the Apollo 1943 - 1944 as a stoker and was
also on board when she went aground on D-Day + 1. Although he
assures me he was not driving at the time - just providing the
power. If you have any information about the ship or its men please
let us know. Reg Parsons Contact

I am trying to find any
information on the alleged mutiny on board HMS Apollo in 1958 when a
Captain Michael Lumby was sent out to investigate the mutiny. Captain
Lumby's obituary appeared this week (5th February) in the Times. Please
