Courbet Class
Central Battery Ships.
French Central Battery Ships of the Courbet Class of the late 1870's,
early 1880's, comprising Courbet and Devastation.. The Courbet Class
were the largest central battery ships ever built. They resembled
the Redoubtable although being over 1,000 tons heavier. The Courbet was
original to be named Foudroyant.

Bateaux de Pile Centraux français de la Classe de Courbet des 1870
derniers, les 1880 premiers, comprenant Courbet et la Dévastation.. La
Classe de Courbet était les plus grands bateaux de pile centraux jamais
ont construit. Ils ont ressemblé au Redoutable bien que sont par-dessus
1.000 tonnes plus lourdes. Le Courbet était original être nommé
Foudroyant.
