Cornwall
class Type 22 frigates of the Royal navy. HMS Cornwall, Cumberland,
Campbeltown and HMS Chatham. make up this Type 22 class. These four ships
were ordered in 1982 to replace the Ships lost in the Falklands war.
These Type 22 had improvements, some form lessons learnt during the
Falklands war.
Displacement:
4200 tons normal and deep load 4,900 tons. Speed 30 Knots
range: 4,500 miles at 18 Knots. Compliment ; 250. (31 officers
and 219 other ranks) Armament: 8 RGM - 84C Harpoon SSM One 4.5 inch
, 55 calibre MK 8 gun. Six 324mm Torpedo Tubes for Stingray
Torpedoes. One sea King Helicopter |
