Broadsword Type 22 Frigates of the Royal navy, HMS Broadsword, Battleaxe Brilliant
and HMS Brazen. Initially intended as replacements for the Leander class
frigates and also to be built for the Royal Netherlands navy. These
frigates were larger than the traditional frigate. This gave room for
future modernization.
Displacement: 4000 tons
normal and deep load 4,000 tons. Speed 30 Knots range: 4,500
miles at 18 Knots. Compliment ; 222. (17 officers and 205
other ranks) Armament: 4 MM38 Exocet SSM, 2 Seawof GWS25 Surface to
Air Missiles; Two 40mm MK9 Guns Six 324mm Torpedo
Tubes for Stingray Torpedoes. Two Lynx helicopters |
