[UP] - S 90 Class - G 108 Class - Leberecht Maass Class - Von Roeder Class - 8 Zerstorer Flotille

1936A Type  Z23  to Z34 ( "8 Zerstorer-Flotille Narvik") German Destroyers Z23, Z24, Z25, Z26, Z27, Z28, Z29, Z30, Z31 Z32, Z33, Z34, Built at Bremen by Deschimag

12 Destroyers all built by Deschimag at Bremen,  and laid down between 1939 - 1940, This class of destroyer was known by their crews as the "Narviks" Most of this class were to become the 8th destroyer flotilla or better known in Germany as "8 Zerstorer-Flotille Narvik"

Displacement: 2,600 tons  Speed: 38.5 knots,  Crew 321  Range:  Z23 - Z27  was 5000 miles at 19 knots, Z28 - Z29  was 5800 miles at 19 knots, Z30 - Z34  was 5900 miles at 19 knots,  Armament: Four 5.9  -inch guns ,  Four 37mm AA in pairs,  Fourteen 20mm AA guns,  Eight  21 inch Torpedo Tubes.  When fitted as a minelayer they carried 60 mine..

 

Z23 14th December 1939 Bombed and sunk 21st August 1944 at La Pallice but some info suggests it was Scrapped in 1948.

Z24 7th March 1940 Sunk on 24th / 25th August 1944. at Le Verdon

Z25 16th March 1940 Given to France at the end of the war. as Hoche and finally broken up 1956

Z26 2nd April 1940 Sunk on 29th March 1942. in the Arctic Ocean of Murmansk by HMS Trinidad and Destroyers HMS Eclipse and HMS Fury
Z27 1st August 1940 Sunk on 28th December 1943. in the Bay of Biscay by HMS Glasgow and HMS Enterprise
Z28 20th August 1940 Sunk on 6th March 1945. by Bombing at Sassnitz

Z29 15th October 1940 Scuttled  at Skaggerak on 16th December 1946. after being given to the USA

Z30 8th December 1940 Given to Britain at the end of the war. and blown up in Explosive experiments

Z32 15th August 1941 Beached on 8th June 1944  and scuttled after taking heavy damage from RCN Haida and RCN Huron. HMS Ashanti, HMS Tartar and Polish Blyskawica,
Z33 15th September 1941 Given to the USSR at the end of the war and served as Provornyj until scrapped in 1960s.
Z34 5th May 1942 Damage by a Russian torpedo on 16th April 1945, after WW2 she was transferred to America but was scuttled on 26th March 1946.
